Constructions
The demand for Foundation Engineering for high-rise buildings in Sri Lanka is carried out by Walkers Piling Limited a Company that specializes
in the construction of bored cast – in – situ pile foundations. Many of the high-rise buildings in and around Colombo are built on pile
foundations by Walkers Piling Ltd. The company has been awarded ISO 9001 – 2000 status.
Prestigious projects include foundation engineering on the Baseline Road Flyover done for its client Kumagai Gumi, the Sri Lanka Customs
headquarters building and the new railway bridge between Fort and Maradana, also foundation engineering work on the re – construction of
the Arugam Bay Bridge under the USAID Tsunami Re-construction Programme. Foundation engineering work is also being done at Galle for
the Ministry of Public Administration and Reforms for the proposed public servants housing scheme and at Kerwalapitiya for the Combined
Cycle power plant.
Building construction ranging from colonial mansions to multi-storied high-rise buildings, the construction of roads, bridges, towers, irrigation
facilities and fi sheries harbour projects at Puranawela, Hikkaduwa and Panadura are also included.
