Walker Sons & Company Engineers (Private) Limited
This company was initially incorporated as Computer Services Limited to house the first computer introduced into Sri Lanka by Walkers. Subsequently business activities were changed and its name was changed to Walkers Developments Limited to carry on the business of the manufacture of Industrial Whiting or Calcite, Glazing Compounds both metal and wood and Mastics, Scouring Powder and in the production of essential oils, the compounding of resin for the Fibreglass Industry and the assembly and sale of heavy machinery and equipment. In 1992, it was re-incorporated as Walker Sons & Co., Engineers (Private) Limited to handle and execute engineering projects.
On the mechanical Engineering side of its business, it has undertaken challenging mechanical and electrical Projects for the Island’s Power Generation, Petroleum, Cement and Steel Production, Water and sanitation management, etc.
Supported by an Industrial Service Division, it meets the requirements of the Manufacturing and Production Industry offering its services for regular prevention and shut down maintenance of existing tea & rubber plantation machinery.
The production of tea machinery is carried out in a well equipped Central Workshop situated at Sapugaskanda. The Central Workshop is the nerve centre of the Company comprising a Machine shop, which is one of the largest mechanical engineering complexes in the country carrying out a wide cross section of jobs from the lightest to the heaviest. In addition to Tea Machinery, standard lines include rubber and Sugar Cane Processing Machinery.
The Central Workshop is also equipped with an Assembly Bay and a Fabrication and Plate Workshop which undertakes the construction of pressure vessels and general fabrication work Machine components and radial gates for hydro projects and segments for tank farms.
The Air Conditioning Division provides engineering solutions for Precision Air Conditioning applications and comfort, Central Air Conditioning Systems inclusive of Systems Design, Installation, commissioning and after sales services.
